The invention relates to a device for the contactless discharge of water in washbasins with a fitting for hot and cold water and with corresponding supply lines, a proximity sensor and a solenoid valve which can be actuated thereby. In order not to impair the appearance of the washbasin or its fitting and to be able to retrofit existing washbasins, the invention provides that in each case one solenoid valve is arranged in the hot-water supply line and in the cold-water supply line, whereas the proximity sensor is accommodated in the hollow for the washbasin fastening together with control electronics for the solenoid valves.
