In a hand-held fire extinguisher consisting of a container (1) for receiving a pressurised extinguishing agent, a valve (3), with a nozzle (14) for outlet of the extinguishing agent, arranged on the container (1), and a valve head (4) which can be mounted on the container (1) and has an actuating device (6) for actuating the valve (3), it is envisaged, for simple and safe mounting of the valve head without using additional fastening means, that the valve head (4) has on its inner side a rib (23) which engages under a projection (21) on the valve (3) and that the nozzle (14) can be screwed into the valve (3) from outside through an opening (25) in the valve head (4) and secures the valve head (3) on the container (1). <IMAGE>
