PURPOSE:To record continuous-gradation images with favorable fixability and recorded image quality, by using a transfer sheet having a thermal transfer layer comprising an ink material and particles having a particle diameter not smaller than the thickness of the layer of the ink material and a recording medium having a coated layer comprising a butyral resin. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer layer 6 comprises an ink material 7 comprising a binder material reduced in viscosity as temperature is raised to provide a property for transfer onto a recording medium 2 and a coloring material and particles 8 having a particle diameter phi greater than the thickness (t) of the layer constituted of the ink material 7, and has a surface rugged due to the mixing of the particles 8 into the ink material 7. A base 9 for the recording medium may be a paper such as an art paper, a synthetic paper, a plastic film or the like. When a butyral resin is incorporated in the binder material of the ink material 7 in an amount of 15-75 parts per 100 parts of the binder material, a recording material having better gradation properties and fixing properties can be obtained. |
