PURPOSE:To provide superior sensitivity to wavelength of light in the near infrared region to a separated function type laminated sensitive body having a carrier transferring layer and a carrier generating layer by using amorphous silicon carbide as the material of the carrier generating layer. CONSTITUTION:When at least a carrier transferring layer 3a and a carrier generating layer 3b are formed on an electrically conductive substrate 1 to produce an electrophotographic sensitive body, a sensitive body having >=0.1cm<2>/ erg spectral sensitivity to 770nm wavelength is obtd. by using amorphous silicon carbide as the material of the carrier generating layer 3b. Positive chargeability is provided to the sensitive body by incorporating a group IIIa element of the periodic table into the carrier generating layer 3b, and negative chargeability is provided by incorporating a group Va element of the periodic table. The resulting sensitive body has superior sensitivity to wavelength of laser light, that is, light in the near infrared region, superior electrophotographic characteristics and durability. |
