<p>PURPOSE:To improve the dielectric breakdown strength of a photocoupler by providing a liquid crystal switch in a gap between light emitting semiconductor element and photodetecting semiconductor element opposed to each other. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal switch 7 having a switching function is disposed between a light emitting semiconductor element 2 and a photodetecting semiconductor element 4, and bonding wirings 5 to leads 6 are connected thereto. The operation of the switch 7 passes or interrupts an optical signal which arrives at the element 4 from the element 2 by applying a bias voltage to X-axis and Y-axis of a liquid crystal from the exterior. Thus, the dielectric breakdown strength is improved, and the signal line can be turned ON or OFF.</p> |
