PURPOSE:To minimize the loss of energy and improve the efficiency of the surface wave motor by a method wherein sound reflecting plates are arranged along the vibration emitting surfaces of an elastic body to retrieve sound waves emitted into air from the elastic body. CONSTITUTION:A distance between the bar-like elastic body 1, corresponding to a stator, and the reflecting plate 2 is determined so as to be (1/4+n/2)Xlambda (here; n is an integer, lambda is wave length) from the emitting surface 1A of the bar-like elastic body 1 so as to feedback the reflected wave of the elastic body to the elastic body 1. Accordingly, in the rotary type surface wave motor, which vibrates into the direction of the thrust of the elastic body 1, the ring-shaped elastic body 1, corresponding to the stator, vibrates into the direction of the thrust and the sound wave, emitted from the emitting surface 1A, is reflected and retrieved by the reflecting plates 3 which serves as a motor frame. In a motor, in which the elastic body 1 vibrated into the radial directions thereof, the reflecting plates 3 are structured so as to be received by the outer peripheral surface of the motor. According to this method, the loss of energy may be minimized and the efficiency of the surface wave motor may be improved. |
