PURPOSE:To enable the constitution of a time divided optical selective switch circuit for multiple inputs and multiple outputs, by forming an optical waveguide of a plane type on a substrate of an optical integrated circuit thereby enabling the common use of the circuit as an optical path between input and output fibers. CONSTITUTION:The frequency of the high frequency AC electrical signal to be applied on a comb-shaped electrode is time dividedly and periodically changed to form a time divided multiple optical space switch. If an input light signal lambdai is the time divided multiple optical signal of a degree of multiplexing N consisting of time slots T1-TN, the frequency of the signal to be applied on the comb- shaped electrode is changed by each time slot time, then the input light of a specific input fiber is emitted to different output fibers by each time slot, whereby the optical switch equivalent logically to time divided multiple space switch is obtd. |
