PURPOSE:To reduce the loss in output power due to knocking, by providing a spark retarding amount changing means for decreasing the spark retarding amount of ignition timing in accordance with the previous spark retarding amount which has been control until then, so that the larger the spark retarding amount is, the less the spark retarding amount of ignition timing is. CONSTITUTION:A knock detecting sensor 14 is connected to an engine control unit (ECU) 15 serving as a knock control means and a spark retarding amount changing means. Further, an ignition coil 17 and a distributor 15 are connected to the ECU 15 which therefore delivers an ignition signal to the ignition coil 17. A spark retarding amount changing means decreases the spark retarding amount of ignition timing in accordance with the previous spark retarding amount which has been controlled until then, so that the larger the spark retarding amount is, the less the spark retarding amount of ignition timing is. Thus, it is possible to prevent excessive spark retardation, and therefore, it is possible to reduce the loss in output power due to knocking. |
