PURPOSE:To distribute an optical signal to each emitting port in a desired optical power distribution in accordance with necessity of a branch destination, by allowing an optical waveguide to branch on the way, and constituting at least one of emitting ports so that its output optical power is different from that of other emitting ports. CONSTITUTION:An emitting part 3 is constituted of plural branching parts 20a-20d, and also, a part of this branch part is provided on the downstream of other branching parts. When the other branching part of a first branching part 20a is made to branch into two as a second branch part 20b, in each branch part of this second branch part, a signal being lower by 6dB against the original input signal appears. Thereafter, when third, fourth...n-th branching parts are provided in this way, an optical signal of each different optical power appears in each emitting port. In this way, by selecting suitably various combinations, an optical star coupler having an arbitrary distribution ratio can be formed. |
