PURPOSE:To enable prevention of clogging of ink jet head nozzles without fail by providing a clutch means which selectively operates a cap member moving means and a pump drive means using a drive source. CONSTITUTION:If a main switch is turned OFF after completion of printing, an ink jet head 1 moves to a home position and stops, whereby a motor 18 is started to rotate a pinion 19 and a transmission gear 17b. At that time, the clutch discs 20b, 20d of the second clutch are engaged, a cap member 3 supported by supporting arms 4, 4 covers the ink jet head 1 if the rotational force of a transmission gear 17g is transmitted to a cam 9. Then a solenoid is turned ON allowing clutch discs 20a, 20c of the first clutch to be intermeshed, and this in turn causes the rotational force of a transmission gear 17a to be transmitted to a pump pressure arm 15 via a transmission shaft 16a. Consequently, a piston shaft 14 is pressed down and this action enables suction of all the residual ink by a suction pump 12 through each nozzle 13. |
