PURPOSE:To reduce the difference of the detection sensitivity to a radiation dose between manufacturing lots, by appropriately cutting the arbitrary ridge part of a glass element rectangular parallelepiped to chamfer said ridge part. CONSTITUTION:A glass element 1 for a dosimeter is composed of a rectangular parallelepiped and four ridge parts thereof are cut to form smooth chamfers 2. Each of these chamfers 2 is continued and connected to two surfaces holding same therebetween at an equal angle. As mentioned above, by appropriately cutting the ridge parts of the rectangular parallelepiped of the element to apply chamfering process thereto, the detection sensitivity of a radiation dose can be increased and, by changing a chamfering width, the detection sensitivity can be arbitrarily regulated. Therefore, by adjusting the chamfering width at every manufacturing lot, the difference of the detection sensitivity between manufacturing lots can be easily reduced.
