The device comprises a plurality of sensors such as 1, joined in an ordered arrangement by a web 2. The sensor 1 comprises an elastic member 10 inserted in a rigid tube 11 with axis normal to the web, and, passing through this member, and deformed with it, a channel 15, at whose ends a light source 13 and a photoresistor 14 are arranged. A bearing force, applied at the top 10b of the member 10, squashes the channel 15, so that the variation in resistance of the photoresistor is a measure of the bearing force. The force field is analysed using scanning of the data from the sensors of the plurality. <IMAGE>
