Lateral restraining device for restraining a flowing sheet, particularly a sheet (5) of cake pastry or the like, carried by a conveyer belt (1) which conveys it to various successive treatment stations of an installation for treating said flowing sheet. The restraining device comprises bands in the marginal areas of the conveyer belt (1), which are made of an appropriate material having a high thermal shock resistance and a high mechanical strength, said bands being made integral temporarily with the conveyer belt (1) by means of magnets (8) embedded in the material forming the restraining device when the conveyer belt (1) is made of steel or otherwise by means of suction cups.
