PURPOSE:To obtain light fiber reinforced plastic improved in impact resistance and showing no deterioration with the elapse of time due to water absorption, by arranging a plastic layer reinforced by an inorg fiber to a core part and constituting a plastic layer reinforced by a high strength polyethylene filament as a sheath part. CONSTITUTION:Solid or hollow fiber reinforced plastic is constituted by arranging a plastic layer reinforced by an inorg. fiber to a core part and arranging a plastic layer reinforced by a high strength polyolefin filament to a sheath part. As the inorg. fiber, there are a glass fiber, a carbon fiber and a boron fiber but the light wt. carbon fiber having both of high strength and high modulus of elasticity is especially pref. As the high strength polyolefin filament, one having tensile strength of 20g/denier or more and tensile modulus of elasticity of 500g/denier or more is recommended from the aspect of the balance with the physical properties of the inorg. fiber. Further, the impact absorbing energy of the fiber is desired to be 40 Juole/denier or more and, when said energy is below said value, the impact resistance/strength ratio of 3 or more of the fiber reinforced plastic can not be achieved. |
