PURPOSE:To obtain proper printing pressure and to improve printing quality, by shifting the contact position of a platen with a thermal line head in the direction opposite to the moving direction of a recording medium at the time of recording. CONSTITUTION:The contact position of a platen 5 with a thermal line head 1 with respect to a heat generating element 1a is shifted by a distance S in the direction reverse to the direction shown by an arrow B. A platen support member 4 is moved against the pressing force of a spring 6 and returned through thermal recording paper 7 to hold the thermal recording paper 7 between the platen 5 and the thermal line head 1, The heat generating element 1a is driven while the thermal recording paper 7 is moved in the direction shown by the arrow B to perform recording. The platen support member 4 is rotated in the direction shown by an arrow C by the friction force of the platen 5 and the thermal recording paper 7 but, since the contact position of the platen 5 with the thermal line head 1 is shifted by the distance S from the position of the heat generating element 1a, two positions coincide with each other and the thermal recording paper 7 is certainly pressed to the thermal line head 1 to obtain proper printing pressure and printing imparting good printing quality is performed. |
