PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent output stability by disposing a thin diamond-like hard carbon film (D.L.C film) on the surface of a high-polymer film on the side opposite from the surface on which a thin ferromagnetic metallic film is disposed. CONSTITUTION:The thin diamond-like hard carbon film 9 is disposed on the surface of the high-polymer film 4 on the side opposite from the surface on which the thin ferromagnetic metallic film 6 is formed. The transfer and reception of a lubricating agent between the magnetic recording layer and the D.L.C film 9, therefore, attain an equil. state immediately without depending too much on preservation environment or the like. The surface condition of the tape is eventually stabilized and the running stability is improved. Since the D.L.C. film has the excellent durability, the accumulation of the resin components to cause head staining after repetition of running is obviated. The effect of improving the output stability is, therefore, more conspicuous as the wavelength as shorter. |
