A lubricating agent for the prodn. of carbon yarns comprises; (A) at least one organo polysiloxane (I) of general formula (I), R1, R2, R3, R4, R6=methyl or ethyl; R4=H, 1-5C alkyl or phenyl; and R7, R8=methyl, ethyl or hydroxyl. Integers m and n have values such that the viscosity of (I) at 25deg.C is 5-1000 (pref. 10-100) crt. (B) at least one amino-modified polysiloxane (II). The lubricating agent provides superior processability and filament separability in the prodn. of carbon and acrylic fibre.
