The present invention relates to 4-[4-(4-ethylpiperazin-1-yl)phenylamino]benzo[g]quinoline of formula: <IMAGE> The process for the preparation of this compound consists in reducing 1-ethyl-4-(4-nitrophenyl)piperazine of formula: <IMAGE> in an organic solvent with hydrogen in the presence of palladium-on-charcoal at 80-100 DEG C with production of a 1-ethyl-4-(4-aminophenyl)piperazine solution. This product is reacted with 2,3-dihydrobenzo[g]quinol-4(1H)-one of formula: <IMAGE> in the presence of nitro compounds of the benzene series at boiling point with removal of the water formed and isolation of the target product. Application as an antimalarial medicament.
