In a process or a device for determining the presence of a Bloch line in the domain wall of a magnetic domain formed in a magnetic thin film, a magnetic field is set up at the magnetic domain parallel to the plane of the magnetic thin film and induces a change in the magnetic domain, the state of which change is sensed and the presence or absence of a Bloch line at a predetermined point of the domain wall is determined from the result of this sensing.
