PURPOSE: To prevent a pressure fixing unit from being damaged due to the engagement of a foreign material by arranging a foreign material removing cleaning mechanism on the surfaces of a photosensitive member and a transfer member in contact with pressure roller before feeding it to the fixing unit. CONSTITUTION:A foreign material 10 on the upper surface of a member P fed into a cleaner is removed by a cleaning blade 9a elliptically pressed, and a foreign material 10 on the lower surface is removed from the surface of the member P by a cleaning blade 9b elliptically pressed. The materials 10 removed by the blade 9b are dropped in a foreign material containing tray 11 as they are, and the materials 10 removed by the blade 9a are stored at the end of the blade 9a. After the rear end of the member P passes the blade 9a, the materials are dropped 10 the tray 11. |
