A retrofit sunroof assembly for a vehicle having a first frame (1) for installation around the rim of a prepared opening (5) in a vehicle roof (R) and a second frame (2) to secure the first frame (1) to the rim. A roof panel in the form of a glass panel frame (6) is slidable in the second frame (2) to open and close the opening (5). The second frame (2) has two guide tracks (25, 32) for the roof panel (6), one of the guide tracks (32) being above the other (25) and the rim, when the second frame is installed in the opening. An actuating mechanism (13) is attached to the roof panel having adjustable positioning elements which cooperate with the lower guide track (4) to secure the roof panel (6) to the second frame (2) in any selected position of the slidable roof panel (6) therein. Height and guidance control of the roof panel (6) is additionally achieved by forwardly and rearwardly located guide elements (83) acting between the roof panel (6) and the second frame (2) and engaging the lower (25) and upper (32) guide track respectively of the second frame (2). |
