PURPOSE:To improve the polishing accuracy of optical fiber end sections at a preset angle by forming grooves aligning multiple optical fibers at a preset angle on both end portions and fitting substrates guided by a guiding means from both end portions to the low center portion. CONSTITUTION:Multiple grooves 16 set to a preset angle with the end face are provided on both end portions 12, 12 of an aligning jig 10 so that they are on extended lines each other. The center portion 14 connecting both end portions is made lower in height than the both end portions 12, 12, and two guides 18, 18 guiding substrates fitted there to the preset position are provided. The substrate 20 made of flat plate-shaped glass is guided by the guide 18 and fitted at the center portion 14. Its height is made almost the same as the height of the bottom section of the grooves 16, then optical fibers 22 are dropped in the grooves 16 and aligned on the first substrate 20. After a small quantity of adhesive is poured, the second substrate 24 is guided by the guide 18 and fitted to pinch and fix the optical fibers 22, which are then removed from the aligning jig 10 and polished along both end faces of the substrates 20, 24. |
