<p>A dampening assembly (10) for retrofit or original construction with a gas or hydraulic shock absorber having annular sleeve (14) in sliding engagement over inner sleeve (13). A single coil spring (26) is telescoped over the annular sleeve of the shock absorber that has at least a pair of longitudinal slots (17), the coil spring ends are maintained between flanges of a pair of sliding retaining clips (18, 19) that are telescoped over the sleeve that includes inwardly projecting fingers (20, 21). The fingers each engage a slot end and extend therebeyond to engage an inner side of a pair of guide rings (28a, 28b) that are secured in spaced arrangement around the inner sleeve, the distance between which opposite guide ring inner sides is equal to the longitudinal slot length. The fingers are in overlapping engagement with the slot ends for maintaining clip positioning with the coil spring compressed therebetween.</p> |
