发明名称 CONNECTING METHOD FOR OPTICAL FIBER
摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the center axes of an optical waveguide and a guide hole from shifting in position by forming the guide hole in end surfaces of a main and a subordinate optical substrates which cross the optical waveguide so that the center axis is aligned with the center axis of the optical waveguide and the internal diameter is nearly equal to the external diameter of an optical fiber, and inserting the optical fiber into the guide hole. CONSTITUTION:The subordinate optical substrate 13 which is made of the same material with the main optical substrate 11 is joined with the surface of the main optical substrate 11 where the optical waveguide 12 is formed, and the guide hole 15 is formed in the end surfaces 14 of the main optical substrate 11 and subordinate optical substrate 13 which cross the optical waveguide 12 so that the center axis is aligned with the center axis of the optical waveguide 12 and the internal diameter is nearly equal to the external diameter of the optical waveguide 12. When visible light is made incident from the other end of the optical waveguide 12, the waveguide part on the surface where the guide hole 15 is formed illuminates brightly, a guide hole working jig 16 is made to the end surface 14 about the part as the center, and the guide hole 15 is formed with a drill 17, thereby easily aligning the center axis of the guide hole 15 with the center axis of the optical waveguide 12. Consequently, the simplified connecting method for an optical fiber is realized which facilitates positioning operation and causes no position shift due to temperature variation.
