PURPOSE:To enhance the purifying performance of exhaust gas and heat resistance of the titled catalyst by depositing both perovskite type composite oxide consisting of alkaline earth metallic oxide, lanthanum oxide and cerium oxide and the catalytic component of noble metal on a carrier. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst for purifying exhaust gas is formed by forming an alumina layer on a carrier and depositing both perovskite type composite oxide consisting of oxide of alkaline earth metal, lanthanum oxide and cerium oxide and the catalytic component of noble metal on the alumina layer. As the catalytic component of noble metal, one or more kinds of the catalytic components of platinum group such as Pt, Pd and Rh are used. Perovskite type composite oxide is thermally stable and the obtained catalyst is excellent in heat resistance and therefore its durability is enhanced. Further in the obtained catalyst, the degree of purification of CO, HC and NOx and durability are remarkably enhanced. |
