The discharge channels 4 formed by spacing bars 3 between the plates 2 are constructed in such a way that their flow cross-section increases radially inwardly in width. As a result, it is ensured that the ratio of forces which act on the solid particles at the outer wall of the discharge channels remains constant over the entire length of the discharge channels 4. The forces result from the radially inwardly directed flow speed in the discharge channel 4 and the radially outwardly directed centrifugal force. By virtue of the corresponding dimensioning of the discharge channels it is ensured that only solid particles of the desired minimum size are separated off. This is then particularly advantageous if a classifying effect is to be achieved with the plate insert. By changing the flow speed in the discharge channels 4, the minimum size of the separated-off (removed) solid particles can be changed. <IMAGE>
