A bearing system for the drum of a furnace installation is described. The bearing system comprises a support system for the drum, which is connected to an outer ring. The support system has at least two clamping jaws which are in friction contact with the drum outer surface and a frame element which is mounted elastically on the outer ring in the circumferential direction of the drum and which is connected to each clamping jaw via a linkage which converts a radial movement of the drum into a rotary movement of the frame element. <IMAGE>
