The invention relates to an inductor such as is used, for example, for hardening crankshafts. The sliding shoes used are divided into receiving shoe and hard metal insert part, the insert part, which is prolonged outwards radially, being fixed, with a clamping screw which itself is sunk in the insert part and/or in the receiving shoe, in a receiving niche, which is adapted dimensionally accurately to the insert part, and is consequently connected to the receiving shoe. The clamping screw, which like the receiving shoe is made from non-magnetisable metal, is freely accessible from outside and makes it possible to exchange the insert part without dismantling the entire inductor. In this manner, a time-intensive and expensive readjustment of the inductor can be avoided.
