The pallet-changing mechanism is for a forklift truck, on which there are two forks one above the other and lifted or lowered simultaneously. The laden pallet on the top fork is unloaded and an empty one picked up by the bottom one. On both sides of the paths followed by the pallets on the forks are stationary holders with supporting members spring-loaded into the pallet-supporting position. Above each member is a lever swinging in and out of the pallet path, and it and the member engage in oblong apertures in a sliding coupling member. When the lever is swung up by contact with an empty pallet, it retracts the supporting member.
