<p>This invention relates to an internal combustion engine comprising : a combustion chamber (2a) having at least one rigidly fixed inner wall surface (l0a) and at least two movable inner wall surfaces (4a,6a ) reciprocally mounted and adapted to reciprocate from a first position lessening the internal volume of the combustion chamber (2a) to a second position expanding the internal volume of the combustion chamber (2a); the two movable, inner wall surfaces(4a, 6a) are adapted to remain in the first position lessening the internal volume of the combustion chamber (2a) a crankshaft means operatively attached to each of the movable, inner wall surfaces (4a, 6a); a spark plug (46a) secured in the fixed inner wall surface (l0a) and having the spark gap terminals (48a) thereof extending into the combustion chamber (2a); and a pair of inlet and exhaust valves (53a, 58a) disposed in the combustion chamber (2a) and opening inwardly thereinto.</p> |
