OPTICAL FIBER JACKET GUIDE

PURPOSE:To increase the adhesive strength of a coating material of an optical fiber to a jacket guide and to prevent the disconnection of a fiber strand by the shrinkage force of the coating material by forming ruggedness or grooves to the periphery of the coating material of the optical materials and adhering and fixing said material to the jacket guide. CONSTITUTION:Thread grooves 2 are formed by die or other working tools on the nylon coating material 1 for coating the optical fiber strand 3. The thread grooves are cut to the region of 2/3 the length of the coating part embedded in the jacket 3 in this case and the remaining about 1/3 is not worked. The decrease in the bending strength at the end is prevented by providing such unworked part to the coating material. A glass pipe 5 is inserted onto the fiber strand 3 and is adhered and fixed by injecting an epoxy resin 6 in this state into the jacket 4. The jacket 4 is fixed via a joint layer 8 to a fixing wall 7 of the device. The adhesive strength on the surface of the coating material is thereby improved. The volume of the coating materials is decreased by forming the deeper ruggedness, by which the shrinkage force is decreased by as much as the decreased component of the volume.
