PURPOSE:To make a stable engine operation possible without any misfiring by providing the plural number of ignition elements facing a combustion chamber and forming at least one of them with a glow plug. CONSTITUTION:An intake valve 30 and an exhaust valve 32 are energized to close an intake port and an exhaust port with a valve spring 34. A glow plug 50 and an ignition element built-up unit 52 are arranged practically symmetrically against a cylinder center axis A. Before an engine is started, power is run through an element 50d to make it red heated by impressing direct voltage between the core bar 50c of the glow plug 50 and a cylinder 10. Since both the element 50d and another element 52c are heated by the combustion gas, the engine will continue its rotation without stopping even if the power to the glow plug 50 is discontinued thereafter. |
