摘要 PURPOSE:To make it possible to stably and efficiently produce a high quality thin prepreg by a method wherein a pressure applied to the prepreg between nip rolls and a tension of carbon fiber bundle at the entrance of the nip rolls are set within specified ranges and at the same time the temperatures of the nip rolls at impregnation is controlled so as to hold the viscosity of matrix resin within a specified range. CONSTITUTION:The pressure condition of nip rolls depends on the number of sheets of coated paper used. When a paralleled carbon fiber prepreg is impregnated onto one sheet of coated paper, the preferable pressure condition is 5-10 kg per 1000 carbon fiber filaments. When the paralleled carbon fiber prepreg is impregnated between two sheets of coated paper, the preferable pressure condition is 1-10 kg per 1000 carbon fiber filaments. The necessary control of the tension of each carbon fiber bundle for manufacturing a thin prepreg is to develop 40-100 g per 1000 carbon fiber filaments at the entrance of the nip rolls. On the other hand, due to the property of matrix resin, the temperatures of the nip rolls must be selected so as to realize the viscosity of the matrix resin at impregnation within the range of 30-100 poises or the preferable range of 40-60 poises.
