PURPOSE:To attain highly accurate focus detection by arranging a luminous flux limiting member limiting luminous flux to photodetecting element arrays in a common optical path of divided luminous flux and setting up the interval of luminous flux limiting areas to a value smaller than the width of the photodetecting area of the photodetecting element arrays. CONSTITUTION:A light shielding member S having a rectangular opening Sa is arranged close to a focal surface I0, by which the luminous flux photodetected by photodetecting element arrays D1, D2 is limited. Namely, the light shielding member S is constituted so that the length (l) and the width W of the rectangular opening Sa are smaller than that of the rectangular areas corresponding to the photodetecting element arrays D1, D2 and the image of the rectangular opening is projected to the peripheral edge part on the respective photodetecting element arrays D1, D2. Said constitution makes it possible to attain extremely highly accurate focus detection by comparing the output signals from the photodetecting element arrays. |
