PURPOSE:To enable selection of specific gravity, Young's modulus having desired characteristic and to improve the abrasion resistance, by pressure molding a compound composed of metal or metal compound powder and ceramic powder then sintering and hardening said compound to produce a complex material for forming a wire. CONSTITUTION:A compound composed of metal or metal compound powder and ceramic powder is pressure molded then sintered and handened to produce a complex material for forming a wire 2. The metal includes iron, copper, aluminum, titanium and their alloys. preferably, titanium carbide is employed as the metal compound. The ceramic includes alumina(Al2O3), zirconia(ZrO2) or silicon nitride. Various features of complex material such as specific, gravity, Young's modulus can be selected as desired by varying the type of metal or metal compound powder and ceramic powder and the mixing ratio of them. Consequently. various features of wire 2 can be selected properly according to various conditions of head such as recording speed. Since ceramic has high hardness, abrasion resistance of wire 2 can be improved. |
