PURPOSE:To stabilize electric charge transfer performance and in a preferable state by forming as a charge transfer layer an organic plasma polymerized film produced by a low-pressure plasma polymerization reaction of an organic gas and containing alkali metal atoms as a chemically modifying substance. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body is obtained by successively laminating on a conductive substrate 1 the charge transfer layer 2 and the charge generating layer 3. The charge transfer layer 2 is composed of an amorphous solid of carbon and hydrogen atoms produced by the plasma polymerization of hydrocarbon in a gas phase and containing as the chemical modifying substance at least the alkali metal atoms in an amount of 0.1-10atom% of the total constituent atoms, thus permitting charge transfer performance to be stably retained without undergoing deterioration due to the lapse of time. |
