The invention relates to an insect trap, especially usable as a fly trap in cowsheds, stables and other fly- ridden places, and which comprises a plate-shaped substrate made from paper or some other suitable, flexible material, which substrate is equipped with an adhesive, the adhesive being a water-based cold glue applied to the one side of the substrate, the other side of which is provided with a layer of silicone or other similar agent. In a refined fly trap, an insect attractant is mixed with the water-based glue before this is applied to the substrate surface and the substrate has the form of a roll and the substrate has transverse perforations, kerfs or other weakened sections along its length to enable a used trap surface to be torn off and an unused trap surface to be exposed.
