PURPOSE:To suppress the fluctuation in sensing range to a small value due to the fluctuation of sensitivity in transmission and reception waves by adopting a pitch in response to a sensing angle for the arrangement pitch of plural ultrasonic wave elements to allow plural directing beams to exist in the sensing angle only to be sensed. CONSTITUTION:Plural ultrasonic wave elements 1 transmitting an ultrasonic wave and receiving a reflected wave are arranged on the same plane. In this case, the pitch in response to the sensing angle is adopted for the arrangement pitch to allow plural directing beams exist in the sensing angle only to be detected. For example, three ultrasonic wave elements 1 are arranged side by side on one plane at a pitch of 1.4 wavelength to form the ultrasonic array sensor.
