PURPOSE:To improve the high density recording and reproducing characteristic by forming many minute slots on the surface of magnetic thin film of a thin film type magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic base 10 applied with sufficient surface polish and provided with a CuMo permalloy soft magnetic thin film 11 having nearly 1mum thickness is formed. Then, the said soft magnetic thin film part is placed on alumina grinding particles, and the part is moved while depressing the nonmagnetic base to form slots 12 on the surface of the soft magnetic thin film. Then, the permeability (mu) of the main magnetic pole is made large and the high density characteristic is improved by forming the slots (most of slots are directed in a direction nearly in parallel with the running direction of magnetic recording medium) on the main magnetic pole, i.e., the surface of the soft magnetic thin film. The movement of magnetic walls is blocked by the slots, and the change of magnetization attains rotating magnetization, thereby increasing the permeability. |
