Rubber sprung rail wheel

The rubber sprung, rail wheel has a rubber spring strip (2) between the wheel disc and the tyre. The rubber strip has deformation cut-outs (3) surrounded by freely sprung walls (4,5). These are at an angle to the axial direction of the wheel, so that the deformation wanders along the walls without influencing the conducting of the wheel loading. The wheel remains round even at high speeds, while the cutouts soften the wheel springing. The cut outs can be alternatively formed in rings or curved to give a similar effect.
