A PTC component has at least two metal electrodes between which a material having PTC characteristics is arranged. The inner surface of each metal electrode, which is in contact with the material, has a number of fine projections which are formed by electrolytic deposition. The metal electrodes are preferably composed of a metallic material which is obtained by electrolytic deposition, the electrode plates being in close contact with the material having the PTC characteristics. This PTC component has a low resistance at room temperature and is distinguished by improved moisture resistance.
