<p>PURPOSE:To endure a high thrust load during a low speed rotation by a method wherein a soft thin layer is formed in a bearing surface of a main body of the bearing formed with tapered surfaces and land surfaces in sequence in a circumferential direction. CONSTITUTION:The main body of a bearing made of steel as its mother material, and its sliding surface is formed with tapered surfaces 11 and the land surfaces 12 in sequence in a circumferential direction. The sliding surface of the main body of the bearing is formed with a soft thin layer. This soft thin layer is preferably a lubricating material, for example, soft solid lubricant. This soft thin layer shows that during an inital period of sliding operation the soft material at the part projected from the entire land surface 12 is worn out and decreased, the soft material on the land surface lower than the entire land surface is left as it is, and then during the initial period of sliding operation, the land surfaces and the opposing bearing surfaces are rapidly cooperated. Even at a relative low sliding speed, it is possible to receive this high load due to this smooth cooperation.</p> |
