The upholstered vehicle seat comprises a squab and a backrest with detachable upholstery covers and fixed support shell secions. The squab (1) and the backrest (2) has each foam cushion (3,4) in which a metal frame (5,6) with round bars (7) is embedded. At four points, at the bars intersecting, recesses are formed (8) in the foam cushions to expose them. The upholstery covers (9,10) are cap-shaped, fitting over the foam cushions and having hook-pile fastener strips (11a,11b) looped round the exposed portions of the bars.
