According to the invention, the instrument intended for collection of the embryos of small ruminants, e.g. goats and sheep, by laparoscopy is formed from the following components: an observation means (2) for the operating field "in situ", gripping elements (4) for "controlling" the uterine horn and a collecting probe. The collecting probe is formed from a sleeve (10) whose operating end consists of a tubular and pointed head for piercing of the uterine horn in front of which there is an inflatable balloon (13) to which an air-supply line formed from the probe wall leads. The interior of the sleeve (10) is penetrated by a mobile catheter (15) whose front end penetrating through the head is provided with a number of collection openings (19). The catheter (15) forms a circular arc-shaped duct with the sleeve cavity for the supply of a physiological fluid for suspension of the embryo. <IMAGE>
