For ironing out fabric seams by the use of steam in the production of ready-made garments, it is possible to employ seam-ironing stations, in which the fabric material to be ironed out in its seams is introduced through a fabric-seam slipping-in device (9) on a conveyor band (17) between an ironing spar (6) and an upper spar (8) having a lowerable heatable form-pressing body (10) and, after the seam has been ironed out, is guided out of the arrangement again as a result of an oppositely directed movement of the conveyor band. As shown in practice, considerable difficulties, relating particularly to the always perfect introduction of the fabric material to be ironed out in its seam, arise here with regard to satisfactory operation because of the different fabrics to be processed. In order to remedy this, it is proposed to provide on the top side of the conveyor band (17) a controlled fabric-edge holder (21) which also executes the conveyor-band movement during a seam-ironing operation and which, during the movement of the conveyor band, clamps the fabric material to be drawn in at its edge on the conveyor band. <IMAGE>
