The walls of the body (1) of a piece of furniture intended for fitting out caravans and the like are joined together at the common edges by a framework (4) of profile strips (5, 6, 7) with rounded angle pieces (8). The front opening (13) is stiffened by frame strips (14-16). The profile strips (5-7) each have an edge projection (21) which is approximately in the form of a square tube in cross-section, from which there protrudes a moulded-on T-shaped connecting profile (22) approximately at the centre of one wall of the edge projection (21) and with the latter forms an angle slot (27) in which a wall panel (28) engages. The latter catches behind a strip lug (29) and is screwed to the double flange (25). A central flange (31) protrudes approximately at the centre of the double flange (25) parallel to the base (26) of the edge projection, the said central flange in turn being fixed, for instance, to a side strip (16) by means of screws (33) passing through into the edge projection (21). The edge projections (21) thus lie completely outside the space profile of the body (1) of the piece of furniture and the wall parts can be fixed to the flanges reaching inwards from the edge projection and to the edge projection itself, and also directly to one another, which for little outlay enables exceptional stiffening while using the edge-projection design proven in wood construction. <IMAGE>
