A device for measuring and indicating changes in the resistance of a living body includes an analog portion, a digital portion (Fig. 2) and a stabilised source of power. The analog portion includes a bridge network including a potentiometer P1A for setting a reference level and a meter M1 for indicating changes in balance of the bridge. Two electrodes for connection to a living body are connected into one arm of the bridge. The digital portion includes a potentiometer (P1B) which turns together with the potentiometer P1A and processing circuitry including UP/DOWN counters connected to digital displays. The operator adjusts the ganged potentiometers so that movement of potentiometer P1A maintains balance of the bridge. The resulting movement of potentiometer P1B causes counts to be displaced which indicate to the operator the position and the total amount of rotation of said potentiometer. In addition, a computer could be interfaced with the device to record or play back the changes in the resistance. <IMAGE>
