<p>A rehabilitation means, in particular but not exclusively for rehabilitation of muscles and joints of the extremities, for force exercising and/or measurement of muscular force comprises a frame (1), an advantageously adjustable bench (2) supported on said frame, an adjustable counterforce means (3), eg a disc stack, with force transmission mechanism (4), eg a rope, connected to a linkage (5) rotatably carried in the frame and against which a person using the means presses his leg to exercise it. The rehabilitation means also comprises an adjustable limiter (14) for limiting the motion path of said linkage to be consistent with the functional limits of the joint being exercised, and a tensioning member (15) for eliminating free play between the linkage held against the limiter, the force transmission mechanism (4) and the counterforce means (3) and for placing them under tension. A patient seated on the bench (2) places his leg under or on a fluted extremity rest (12, 13) carried by the linkage (5) and a counterweight (8) is adjusted so that the leg and weight (11) cancel each other and the system is brought into equilibrium before exercising commences. The tensioning member (15) preferably comprises a threaded pin and a sleeve with inner threads for tensioning the rope. If the rest (12) is turned downwardly and the patients leg is positioned between the rest and the linkage, the transmission mechanism is switched to operate so that the weight discs ascend when the linkage is moved upwards by the leg of the patient.
