The present invention is directed to a method of selective assay of urinary plasminogen activator zymogen (pro-uPA) (commonly known also as pro-urokinase) and urinary plasminogen activator (u-PA) (commonly known also as urokinase) in biological fluids as well as in any kind of solution containing them, either separately or jointly. One feature of this method is in fact that it allows the determination of pro-uPA also in the presence of its enzymatically active derivative u-PA.
