<p>A medical pillow (10) for patients who have undergone an open heart surgical operation comprises a central chest supporting and contacting area (12) having two laterally extending arm engaging wings (24,26). A sleeve (14) is provided on the outer surface of the chest contacting area. The patient's hands can be slid into the open ends of the sleeve enabling the patient to grip and hold the pillow and easily pull the same against his chest. The pillow is provided with arm coutouts (28,30) so that the patient's arms can be folded across his chest. The upper portions of his arms bring t he wings flush against the patient's sides. Alternatively, the medical pillow (10) can be inverted with the neck supporting surface being placed between the patient's legs, the wings (24,26) folding around the patient's waist with the cut-outs (28,30) providing a spot for the patient's legs.</p> |
